Considering Profhilo? Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Treatment, Results and Skin Rejuvenation
Profhilo is one of those treatments that patients often discover and wonder why nobody told them about it sooner. It’s not a filler or Botox which means it doesn’t add volume or freeze movement. What it does is something more subtle and, for many patients, a lot more transformative. Profhilo works with your skin’s own biology to restore collagen, elasticity, hydration, firmness, and radiance.
If you’ve been hearing about Profhilo and wondering whether it’s right for you, this guide covers everything - what it actually is, how it works, what the results look like, and what to expect before, during, and after treatment.
What Is Profhilo Skin Booster?
Profhilo is an injectable skin booster made from one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available in any aesthetic treatment. Unlike dermal fillers, which use hyaluronic acid to add structure or volume to a specific area, Profhilo is designed to spread hyaluronic acid through the skin and stimulate collagen production from within.
When injected, it disperses beneath the surface, hydrating the tissue deeply and triggering the production of collagen and elastin, Collagen and elastin are the two proteins responsible for keeping you skin firm, plump, and resilient. The result from Profhilo treatment is an overall improvement in skin quality rather than a change in shape or contour.
It’s one of the most natural-feeling treatments I offer, because it enhances what your skin is already capable of - it just sometimes needs a little encouragement.
What Is Profhilo and How Does It Work?
Profhilo contains two forms of hyaluronic acid - a high molecular weight and a low molecular weight, bonded together using a thermal process that doesn’t involve any chemical cross-linking agents. This is what makes it distinct from traditional fillers.
Once injected, Profhilo does two things simultaneously:
Deep hydration The hyaluronic acid draws moisture into the tissue, plumping and hydrating the skin at a level that topical products simply cannot reach. This happens quickly, in fact, many of my patients notice their skin feels different within days of treatment.
Collagen and elastin stimulation Over the following weeks and months, the treatment stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin production. This is what creates the firming, lifting, and tightening effect that patients often describe - not from anything being added, but from the skin producing more of what it’s naturally lost.
The combined effect is skin that looks brighter, feels firmer, and has a noticeably improved texture and tone.
Does Profhilo Improve Skin Quality?
Yes - and this is where Profhilo really sets itself apart from other treatment. Many patients come to me having tried fillers or Botox and feeling that while the results are good, something is still slightly off. Often, what they’re noticing is the underlying quality of the skin itself - dullness, fine texture, the subtle loss of plumpness and bounce.
Profhilo addresses exactly this. Patients consistently tell me their skin feels different - more hydrated and more alive, and that others start commenting that they look well-rested or refreshed without being able to identify why.
It’s particularly effective for:
• Skin that looks dull or lacklustre
• Fine lines and crepiness, particularly in the cheeks, neck, and crows feet around the eyes
• Loss of firmness and elasticity in the face and neck
• Skin that feels dehydrated regardless of how much skincare is applied
• Those wanting a natural, skin-health-focused result rather than a structural change
Profhilo Treatment: What to Expect
One of the things patients appreciate most about Profhilo is how straightforward the experience is.
The consultation As with all treatments I carry out, Profhilo begins with a consultation. I take time to assess your skin quality, understand your concerns, and confirm whether Profhilo is the right treatment for you, or whether a different approach, or a combination, would give a better outcome.
The treatment itself Profhilo is administered using a series of small injections at specific points on the face - typically five points on each side, following what’s known as the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique. This approach is designed to allow the product to spread evenly through the tissue, reaching the areas it needs to.
The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. Most patients find it very manageable.
After treatment You may notice small bumps at the injection sites immediately after treatment - these are entirely normal and settle within a few hours. Some patients experience mild redness or occasional bruising, which typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours.
There is no meaningful downtime. Most patients return to their normal activities the same day, though I advise avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat for 24 hours after treatment.
What to Expect After Profhilo: Results and Timeline
This is one of the questions I’m asked most frequently.
In the first few days, many patients notice an improvement in skin hydration. The skin often feels more plump and fresher. This is the immediate hydrating effect of the hyaluronic acid.
Over the following four to six weeks, the collagen and elastin stimulation begins to take effect. Skin gradually becomes firmer, fine lines and crepiness soften, and the overall tone and texture improves. This is the stage where most patients start to notice the more significant changes.
Full results are typically seen after completing the standard course of two sessions, spaced four weeks apart. The second treatment builds on the first, and the combined effect is more pronounced than either session alone.
Profhilo is not an instant transformation like filler. The results develop gradually and naturally, which is exactly why they look so good. Patients don’t look like they’ve had work done, they simply look like a healthier, more rested version of themselves.
When Will I See Profhilo Results?
To summarise the timeline:
• Days 1–7: Improved hydration; skin may feel immediately more plump
• Weeks 2–4: Early collagen stimulation begins; skin quality starts to improve
• 4–8 weeks after second session: Full results visible - firmer, smoother, more radiant skin
Every patient’s skin responds slightly differently, and factors like age, baseline skin quality, and lifestyle all play a role. I always encourage patients to complete the full course before assessing their results.
Profhilo Before and After: What Results Actually Look Like
The results of Profhilo are genuinely some of the most satisfying I see in clinic - not because they’re dramatic, but because they’re exactly right. Patients look refreshed and well, without anything looking obviously “done.”
In before and after comparisons, the most common changes are:
• Noticeably improved skin texture - smoother, more even surface
• Reduction in fine lines and crepiness, particularly in the cheeks and around the eyes
• A firmer, more lifted appearance in the mid-face and jawline
• Brighter, more radiant skin tone
• Improved skin quality in the neck and décolletage when treated in those areas
What you won’t see in Profhilo before and afters is a dramatic change in shape or structure. If significant volume loss or deep lines are the primary concern, Profhilo may work best alongside a structural treatment like dermal filler. This is something I’ll always discuss during consultation.
How Long Does Profhilo Last in the Face?
Results from a standard course of Profhilo typically last around six to nine months.
After this point, the collagen stimulation gradually reduces and the skin begins to return to its baseline. This is why most patients choose to maintain their results with regular top-up treatments - either a single maintenance session, or a further course if preferred.
With consistent, ongoing treatment, many patients find their skin quality improves cumulatively over time, as each course builds on the last.
Can I Have Profhilo After Fillers?
Yes - in fact many of my patients have both. Dermal fillers work structurally, adding volume and definition to specific areas. Profhilo works at the level of skin quality, improving hydration, firmness, and texture throughout the tissue. They address different things and don’t interfere with one another.
The main practical consideration is timing. If you’ve recently had filler, I’d typically recommend waiting until any swelling has fully settled before having Profhilo - usually around two weeks. If you’re planning to have both, I’ll advise on the best order and timing during your consultation.
Profhilo can also work well alongside Botox, polynucleotides, and other skin treatments as part of a broader skin health plan.
